The relationship between genital hygiene behaviors and genital infections among women: A systematic review

Introduction: Genital hygiene is an important part of women’s health and essential for protecting reproductive health. Women adopt many genital behaviors, which will have direct indirect effects on genitals possible sexually transmitted infections. This systematic literature review aimed to know the types behaviors practiced by women assess relationship between behavior infection. Methods: A search electronic databases, PubMed, Ovid, Web Science, Scopus, ScienceDirect, JSTOR, SAGE, published January 2001 2021. The keywords used were “genital behavior” AND infections” “women OR female.” inclusion criteria focused incidence included full papers with observational research methods followed PRISMA guidelines. After reading content studies, key themes concepts extracted synthesized. Results: In total 383 articles screened. Five met analyzed. analysis revealed four categories related among women: underwear hygiene, bathing habits, menstrual coital hygiene. infections bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, vulvovaginal candidiasis. showed that incorrect inadequate increases risk vaginal Conclusion: higher occurred in improper practices. It necessary professionals educate about good practices order reduce rate
